Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 19, 2026
This policy explains how Anchor (“we”, “us”, the “App”) collects, uses, and protects your information. By using Anchor you agree to what is described here. If anything is unclear, please email us at anchorr26@gmail.com and we will be glad to explain.
Information we collect
- Account information. Your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email, and a provider account identifier from that service. We never see your Google or Apple password.
- Focus session data. The sessions you run (start and end times, duration, timer mode), the categories you create, your focus scores, streaks, goals, and aggregated statistics.
- NFC tags. The unique identifier of any tag you register and the label you give it, used to confirm you were physically present during a session.
- Notifications. A device push token, but only if you choose to turn notifications on.
- Screen Time and app blocking. App blocking uses Apple’s Screen Time (Family Controls) framework. Your blocked-app choices and app-usage data are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to or stored on our servers.
How we use your information
- To run the App, including signing you in, running your sessions, and syncing your data across devices.
- To calculate your analytics, streaks, goals, and focus scores.
- To generate AI insights from anonymized, aggregated behavioral data.
- To send the emails you need (verification and password-reset codes) and any notifications you enable.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
Third-party services
We share the smallest amount of data necessary with the services that help us run Anchor:
- Google and Apple handle social sign-in, only when you choose it.
- Brevo sends verification and password-reset emails, so it receives your email address.
- AI providers (GitHub Models / OpenAI and Google Gemini) receive anonymized, aggregated session data to generate insights. This data is not used to identify you.
- Expo delivers push notifications.
- Render (hosting) and MongoDB Atlas (database) store and process your data on our behalf.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your data while your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and everything tied to it at any time from inside the App, under Profile then Delete Account. Deleting your account removes your profile, sessions, statistics, tags, insights, and tokens.
Security
Passwords are stored hashed with bcrypt. Your data travels over encrypted HTTPS connections, and access is protected by authentication tokens.
Children’s privacy
Anchor is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When something meaningful changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top.
